  1. Cable took root in this country, and presumably in the Boston market in the 1970s and especially in the 1980s. I know that cable reception for the independents on UHF band (Chs. 38, 56, and 25) was substantially improved, which made for higher ratings.

    Would this also be true for WGBH-TV, which is a VHF station.
